Dr. Jiyeon Lee
Dr. Jiyeon Lee is a versatile pianist, teacher and performer. She has had extensive experience as both a soloist and collaborative pianist in South Korea, the United Kingdom and America. As a soloist, she has received awards in multiple international competitions and appeared in most of the major recital venues in Seoul. In America, she performed in Pittsburgh Concert Society’s Major Artists Concert Series, Clinch Vally Concert Series, Outside the Box Festival of New Music and frequently performs solo/duo recitals. She actively presents her research that mainly focuses on Korean music at regional, state, national and international music conferences. Dr. Lee is consistently in high demand as a collaborative pianist for both individuals and ensembles. While in London, she performed a song recital in celebration of the publication of Fauré Song Book Vol.1 (Peter’s Edition) with French music specialist Roy Howat. She has worked as pianist/coach at Music on Site, Inc. in America and repetiteur on several opera productions in Seoul including at Daejeon Opera. She received her BM (Piano Performance) from Chung-Ang University, and her MM (Collaborative Piano) from Sung-Shin Women’s University. She also completed the MA (Piano Accompaniment) at the Royal Academy of Music in London and DMA (Collaborative Piano) from West Virginia University. She was a collaborative piano intern of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) in 2024. Dr. Lee was on the faculty at Soong-Sil University Conservatory in South Korea, as well as the University of Virginia’s College at Wise and East Tennessee State University and is currently on the faculty at John A. Logan College and works at Southern Illinois UniversityCarbondale as collaborative pianist. In summer 2025, she will be on the faculty at the Saarburg International Festival and School in Germany.
